Mary Dolezal Guest Assistant
Creative Center Specialist
Education Staff
Mary has earned a Bachelor's Degree in Data Processing from Wayne State. For over 20 years, Mary has worked as an accountant. She brought that acute awareness for detail to Country Traditions in 2008. Mary's interest in quilting started while watching her grandmother and great-grandmother sew their blocks together when she was a child. In 1997, she decided to take a basic quilting class and things began to bloom after that. Mary now shares her love for quilting by teaching others the techniques she has learned over the years. She now resides in Scribner with her husband. She has three children and two grandchildren.
Scott Flanagan Guest Assistant
Creative Center Coordinator
Education Staff
Scott obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Midland Lutheran College in 2007. Soon after, he became the Creative Center Coordinator for Country Traditions. Scott's love of quilting started with his grandmother. He and his grandmother spent many hours at the sewing machine piecing together fabric. Scott now teaches all the Pfaff owner classes, many of the machine technique classes, and quilting technique classes. Scott lives in Fremont by himself, not even a goldfish. He is active in the Fremont Community and his Church.
Leslie Main Guest Assistant
Creative Center Specialist
Education Staff
Leslie earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Family & Consumer Science Education and Human Development. After teaching middle school for 10 years, Leslie took on the challenge of owning and managing a quilt shop. In 1998 she and her husband opened the doors of Country Traditions. She now uses her teaching skills to share her passion for creativity in the art of Quilting. Her love for quilting extends from Basic Quilting classes for the beginner to extensive technique quilting classes for the more advanced. After years of quilting for others, Leslie now teaches many long arm technique classes, passing on her "lessons learned" and "passion" for machine quilting.
Cathy Miller Inventory Coordinator
Creative Center Specialist
Education Staff
Cathy has been with Country Traditions since the winter of 2008. She has always enjoyed learning and teaching. Therefore, it is not surprising that her accomplishments include being an EMT, Cosmetologist, CPR Instructor, and EMS Instructor, just to name a few. Cathy started sewing as a kid and can't remember not sewing. She has now combined her love of sewing with her teaching skills and brought them to the classroom here at Country Traditions. Cathy has three children and two grandchildren. She resides in Hooper with her husband.
Sue Steier Guest Assistant
Creative Center Specialist
Education Coordinator
Sue has earned a Bachelor's Degree from Creighton University. After graduation she worked briefly prior to becoming a stay home mom for her 5 children. In 2006, she brought a passion for quilting to Country Traditions. Sue's love for quilting began with an appreciation of artist whose work she saw in galleries, books, and magazines. In 1992 she took a basic quilting class in an attempt to duplicate the creations she admired. Many classes later, she now teaches the staff and many of the quilt technique classes at Country Traditions. She lives in Bennington with her husband and children.
Valerie Witte Guest Teacher
Valerie has been associated with Country Traditions since 2003. Prior to working at Country Traditions she worked as an elementary school teacher in the Yutan School District. Sewing has always been a part of Valerie's life, as long as she can remember. She can't count the number of wedding dresses and sewing projects she has completed through the years. Along with her sewing skills, Valerie also designs patterns for Country Traditions. Valerie loves to share her knowledge and skills with others. Besides teaching classes she is very active in the local quilting guilds and sewing groups. She is now passing on her passion for sewing and quilting to her granddaughter. Valerie lives in Yutan with her husband.
