As the Bobbin Winds Email Newsletter:  Volume 5:6:2014

My Dearest Country Traditions Friends,

The long awaited Spring has finally arrived.  May brings many things besides May Flowers to celebrate, Mother Day, Graduations, Weddings, and even Baby Showers.  We would like to take the time to wish all the Mother's out in the quilting world and beyond a very Happy Mother Day.  You are truly wonderful women who deserve praise not only on this special day but everyday!  To our graduates we would like to say Congratulations!  As you walk down to the stage and receive
your diploma remember that you are capable of so
many great things.  You are tomorrows leaders, role models and quilters.  You can make a difference in the world with even the smallest of gestures.  We can't wait to watch you blossom.

With all there is to celebrate in May, it seems only fitting that the Month of May is Creative "New" Beginnings Month.  Who doesn't appreciate creativity but us quilters.  As spring renews it's self, how is your creative energies flowing?  Have you made a point to refresh the batteries?  Read below how to get the creative juices flowing again.

May doesn't only bring May flowers,  it also means it's time for our "Back Porch Summer Sales Event", which is our 2nd largest sale of the year.  We have just put hundreds of "New" bolts of  fabric on sale for $5.99 a yard, select Gifts & Home Decor, as well as books, patterns, and notions also on sale.  So, as we freshen up and move things around for the New arriving in the shop, if you are doing the same at home, make sure you leave time to reward yourself by attending the Ultimate Quilters Garage Sale
You are sure to find something special and new to bring home.

As the weather warms up and we begin to think about adventures involving the great outdoors, why not visit some of the great Nebraska Passport program's selected attractions for 2014.  You can even start your great Nebraska adventure at Country Traditions.

We sure hope to see you all soon! Until we do, May Your Bobbin Always Be Full!

Your Country Traditions' Friends

"May" is Creative Beginnings Month

Energize yourself with spring's growing energy to enrich your life with a new creative beginning.  Learn something new, enroll in a class, take up a new sport, listen to music, write a story,  design a quilt project, discover a new facet about yourself, plant a garden....the possiblities are endless.
Time to tap into your inner artist (or your version of...) and start jotting down a list of all the creative things you've dreamed of doing, meant to find the time for, or have a natural affinity toward.  It's the perfect time of year; gorgeous weather, flowers are blooming, everyone's in a good mood, and the itch is palatable to find the next adventure.

Ok, spill...what's it going to be?  You've always wanted to pan for gold, take a quilting class, try long arm quilting, become a writer, or maybe be a clown.  Or there's never been time for flying a kite, learning to ride a motorcycle, finding some wet cement to scrawl your name in, or finish that quilt your started when your teenager was a baby.  By now you have an inkling of your strengths and weaknesses.  What would you be that would make you truly happy:  Quilter? Sculptor? Singer? Dancer?

No time like the present to jump right in.  Step away from your comfort zone and take the challenge.  Even if it's not quick or easy, if it's something you've always wanted to try or, at the very least, been curious about, you know it will be new and exciting.

Think back when you were a child and the days were filled with play, pretend, and imagination.  Unfortunately, the older we get and the more adult issues begin to invade our lives, those spirited activities of our youth get pushed further from our consciousness.

But the creative process enriches every aspect of our lives.  When we try something new, when an unfamiliar skill is conquered-the sense of satisifaction we feel is powerful and can have an energetic influence on the "other" routine, grown-up part of our life.

"You've Been Framed!"
2014's Web Sampler Block-Of-The-Month

Welcome to our 2014 Internet Block-of-the-Month Program. This is our gift to you for being such a loyal reader of our "As the Bobbin Winds" newsletter. As you know, the sampler block patterns for this quilt are only made available to the loyal readers of the "As the Bobbin Winds" Email newsletter.
Over the 12-month course, you will receive directions on how to construct (12) different framed blocks. They will start out easy and work their way up in difficulty as we progress throughout the year. In the last month, you will receive the directions for the final layout and finishing of this beautiful Web Sampler Quilt.
This particular project has been designed to be scrappy in nature, however, if you would like to purchase fabric to make yours, we have included suggested yardage with the first block pattern. We made our sample using batiks, but it would be beautiful and exciting to see it made up in any line of your choice...Kansas Troubles, Jo Mortons, or just some vibrant tonals would be lovely. Let your imagination be your guide. It will be sensational, no matter what fabric you choose.
