As the Bobbin Winds Email Newsletter:  Volume 11:14:2014

My Dearest Country Traditions Friends,

Harvesting season has come and gone, leaving us time to be together and count our blessings.  As the holidays approach and the weather get's us in the spirit, it is really a wonderful reflecting time of the year.  We certainly have a lot to be thankful  for, as the blessings have been many this year.

The best part of the Thanksgiving dinner is counting all the blessings the year has brought.  I look forward to the Thanksgiving table conversation, where we share all the blessings our family and friends have been given this
Thanksgiving greeting
year.  It should be quite a celebration, after all the new additions of family and friends this year has brought to our table. What kind of family traditions do you have to share with your loved ones this time of year?  Have you heard of the story of the Five Kernels of Corn?  It's one of our favorite to set the mood for counting our blessings at the Thanksgiving table.

So now that you are in the holiday mood, how about some help decorating the home?  We have been very busy here at the shop, getting all the holiday decor out.  Today we put the finishing touches on the last of our fifiteen themed decorated trees at the shop!  Visit us this weekend for inspiration and maybe get a start on some early Christmas shopping with our Deck the Halls Holiday Open House.  As part of the fun, you may shop straight from the tree as all of our gift and home decor items are 20% off!

Has the idea of getting a bright shinny new PFAFF sewing machine been tickling your mind?  Now is the time!  Our Early Bird PFAFF Sale Event is in full swing with the best pricing of the season.  Some machines will also have 60 months financing with 0% interest! It's the perfect time to get a PFAFF and/or let your  loved ones know a PFAFF would be a wonderful gift to find under the tree.

After the Turkey and pie has been eaten, it will be time to celebrate that wonderful tradition of SHOPPING!  Make sure you plan a visit to the shop as we have some great Black Friday/Saturday Specials you won't want to miss out on it.  And it's time to celebrate our small business's with the Think Big Shop Small Sales Event. The more yardage you purchase, the more you'll save!! Buy 1 yard of fabric and you will get 10% off of,  2 yards, take 20% off, 3 yards 30%, and finally 4 yards of fabric and take 40% off the original price! Whew! What a great deal!  It's time to get backing for finishing all our holiday projects.

Join us Friday Evening for the Annual Downtown Fremont Christmas Walk.  Always a great time with family and friends.  Please stop by around 6:30 pm, as our friends from Sinai Lutheran Church will be singing holiday songs at the shop.  This month also has a 5th Saturday ("Old Bag Day").  We look forward to seeing our Shop Hop Friends with shop hop bags in hand.  The shop is full of  treasures and inspiration this holiday season, oh what a blessing!

We look forward to celebrating this season with you!  Until we do, May Your Bobbin Always Be Full!

How Do you Count Your Blessings?

Have you heard the story of the five kernels of corn?  This story about counting blessings could be a wonderful tradition to include with your family as you sit down to eat your holiday meal.  Read the story and then invite family and friends to share why each person is grateful.

The Five Kernels of Corn

The story goes that once Thanksgiving became a holiday, the Pilgrims would start their meal with five kernels of corn on their plate.  These five golden kernels represented all the pilgrims had to eat for the entire day during a difficult winter.  The corn that remained was planted in the spring.  At Thanksgiving the five kernels of corn were a reminder that many had nearly starved because of a lack of food.  Each pilgrim would stand up and one by one pick up each kernel of corn and share five things they were thankful for on Thanksgiving.

"You've Been Framed!"
2014's Web Sampler Block-Of-The-Month

Welcome to our 2014 Internet Block-of-the-Month Program. This is our gift to you for being such a loyal reader of our "As the Bobbin Winds" newsletter. As you know, the sampler block patterns for this quilt are only made available to the loyal readers of the "As the Bobbin Winds" Email newsletter.

Over the 12-month course, you will receive directions on how to construct (12) different framed blocks. They will start out easy and work their way up in difficulty as we progress throughout the year. In the last month, you will receive the directions for the final layout and finishing of this beautiful Web Sampler Quilt.
This particular project has been designed to be scrappy in nature, however, if you would like to purchase fabric to make yours, we have included suggested yardage with the first block pattern. We made our sample using batiks, but it would be beautiful and exciting to see it made up in any line of your choice...Kansas Troubles, Jo Mortons, or just some vibrant tonals would be lovely. Let your imagination be your guide. It will be sensational, no matter what fabric you choose.
